Our final project for Computer Art...the assignment was super vague - something inspired by our experience of Tokyo. I came up with a bunch of things that came to mind when I thought about living here this semester, and sort of tried to smoosh them together into one image (who knows how successfully...)
Anyway, the ideas are: rain, lights, maps, alleys, vertical, electrical wires, and fish. By "vertical" I sort of meant how everything here is stacked up on top of everything else - I don't know if it comes across though. The fish are because of both all the fish I've eaten (in lots of different forms), and the aquarium I went to with some friends on top of Roppongi Hills.
All in all it's a combination of 5 or so photos and some textures...I used one photo of the alley, one of the electrical post/wires/sky, one of the lights, a map of the neighborhood I live in here (Akasaka), a photo I snagged the umbrella from, the fishy, and a texture from ...unfortunately I don't remember where I found the other images (they were just dumped in a big resource file), so if anybody recognizes them, lemme know
Anywho, I printed it out today (it's A3 size, so...sort of a smallish poster size) to hang up in the student show on Monday, which means another class down! Now I just have a few papers to finish up and I'm free free free...I basically spend all year looking forward to winter break/Christmas.
Any suggestions for a title would be really appreciated...it apparently needs one for the show and I kind of can't come up with titles (the one I have no is so stupid I don't even want to talk about it). Also, I suggest downloading to view at full size...it looks a little oddly pixelated in the small/full-view. Thanks!
aww, thank you! I was worried about the composition actually more than usual in this, with the fish balancing the lights and all that dark space in the bottom but all the red up top so...thanks! and thanks for the !

OHMIGOSH have I missed something big? You're living in Tokyo?? ;_____; But I absolutely love this picture. Just like Tokyo, or what I remember of it. Hahah, if more abstract. And colorful. And gorgeous.
*tries to read the sign* Well, I can see all of the bottom characters. Torayaho-ru.. I see "Chin" on the top. Hmm?

Hahaha, I am - but only for a semester! It's just my study abroad, so I'm not living here forever And thank you!! When were you here? I think the sign was for a pachinko parlor, so the chin is right! And maybe the Torayaho-ru was the name or something? Anyway, thanks so much, I'm glad you like it - and thanks for the

I really like this! You know, if you can get credit and stock art all sorted out, I definitely think you should sell this as a print. This is really great.

I figured something like that. Still, a semester's better than never I want to study abroad in Japan for a year, so we'll see how that goes. I was there two years ago, the week before my sixteenth birthday! Talk about a sweet sixteen. Oh, those good old panchinko parlors. I never went in one, but they were very loud from the outside.
You're welcome Have fun. You'll have to keep us all updated on your adventures, yes?

It's really been fun! If you ever need any help picking programs, or have questions about living here, totally feel free to send them my way! I was here once before, around my 15th birthday I think (which is...yikes, almost seven years ago - I feel oooold). There are tons of pachinko parlors in the neighborhood I live in (Akasaka, which is sort of near Roppongi), and they are LOUD - I haven't been in one yet either though
