Homework assignment where we were supposed to pick a work from a list of artists and imitate it, in the original material style...since it's not a painting or engraving class, this pretty limited the amount of work I could reasonably imitate. And I don't even remember who this is by! Someone famous. Anyway, I just liked the line quality (which I did a so-so job of imitating) and her face (which I did not imitate well at all), and even though I don't know what it WAS originally it looked sort of like conte crayon so there we go. Her toe and hand got a little cropped in the picture, but I was pretty glad I actually got the whole composition to fit on the page without planning it.

I don't know who this is by, but I think it came out beautifully!! Her face is lovely and the hand on her arm is great!! I love conte =)!! I think it looks especially awesome on some light blue canson paper with some sepia toned conte.

thanks! haha, it'd be neat if someone who sees it knows...I'd like to provide a reference image or something, or at least credit :D anyway, thank you! the hand on her arm and her face actually gave me the most trouble :XD: They were the only parts of the picture I had to redo. I've never tried it on light blue paper, but I diiid buy sepia conte, so I'll try it some time :D

Haha, I actually love it, but I'm not a big fan of using "messy mediums" (even though I like how they look), so I prefer actually using conte over like, vine charcoal :D anyway, thanks!
